Taste, Design & the Georgian Gentleman Tour at The Vyne

Step back into the Georgian era and discover the fascinating life of one of The Vyne's most influential residents on the Taste, Design & the Georgian Gentleman Tour.

Running from 25th June to 1st November 2026, this special volunteer-led tour takes visitors beyond the main exhibition to explore the life, style and legacy of Georgian tastemaker John Chute.

Held every Wednesday and Saturday from 3pm to 4pm, the tour offers a deeper insight into the man whose passion for architecture, design and grandeur helped shape The Vyne into the remarkable house visitors see today.

Known for his love of elegant design and fashionable living, John Chute was one of the leading style influencers of Georgian England.
This engaging tour explores his architectural vision, personal relationships and social connections, revealing the stories behind both his successes and struggles.

Visitors will uncover tales of public scandal, friendship, family dynamics and the fashionable world of Georgian society, while learning how Chute's ideas influenced not only The Vyne but also the homes of his friends and contemporaries.
