Hamble Valley Rotary
Making a Difference Locally and Globally
The Hamble Valley Rotary Club is a lively, community-minded group that meets for lunch on the first three Thursdays of each month at The Macdonald Botley Park Hotel. Our members come together to share ideas, enjoy good company, and make a real difference — both in our local area and around the world.
About The Rotary
Since 1985, Rotary’s main global mission has been to eradicate polio. In 1988, inspired by Rotary’s volunteer efforts and fundraising success, the Global Polio Eradication Initiative was launched.
This international partnership includes Rotary International, the World Health Organisation (WHO), the US Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), UNICEF, and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. Together, they’ve achieved something remarkable — a 99.9% reduction in global polio cases.
Rotary has contributed over $1.8 billion, protecting 2.5 billion children through vaccination programmes. Only two countries — Afghanistan and Pakistan — still report cases, and Rotary continues its work to ensure polio is wiped out completely.
About Hamble Valley Rotary
Closer to home, Hamble Valley Rotary focuses on supporting young people, vulnerable adults, and local families. We provide help for local food banks and organise community initiatives that make a real impact. Each June, members volunteer at the Young Carers Festival, running the refreshment tent and offering a fun, supportive space for carers to relax.
We also partner with Monty’s Community Hub during the August Bank Holiday to take children from low-income families to Ferny Crofts for a weekend of camping and woodland skills — giving them the chance to try something new and build confidence.
Our club is proud to encourage creativity through national Rotary Youth Competitions, including Rotary Young Writer, where local students have achieved great success.
Environmental projects are another growing focus. We work with local groups on tree planting, woodland creation, and litter-picking to help protect the Hampshire countryside.
Rotary is a global network of 1.2 million volunteers who share a passion for service, friendship, and making positive change. Whether you want to volunteer, fundraise, develop new skills, or start your own project, Hamble Valley Rotary offers a welcoming space to get involved.
