Montserrat Events – Event Planning in Lee-on-the-Solent

Montserrat Events CIC is a Hampshire-based event planning company specialising in community-focused events in Lee-on-the-Solent.

Born from the success of organising large-scale local celebrations, Montserrat Events has become a key player in delivering memorable and meaningful experiences across the region.

It all began with plans to mark the 75th anniversary of VE and VJ Day in 2020. Although the pandemic delayed the original event, the team went ahead in 2021 with the newly rebranded Lee Victory Festival. That same year, they also took on the Lee Music Festival, later evolving into the Summer Sounds concert series.

As the scale and variety of events grew, the team formally launched Montserrat Events Ltd in March 2021. By August 2022, the company became a Community Interest Company (CIC)—a structure that supports community benefit and transparency. Montserrat Events now works year-round to plan and deliver festivals, concerts, and heritage celebrations, often in partnership with local charities, businesses, and volunteers.

With a growing asset base—including staging, lighting, and event infrastructure—the company supports both large public events and smaller community projects. Equipment is available to hire, either at commercial rates or at reduced cost (or free) for community groups.

Led by Jonathan Moore, Montserrat’s Managing Director and a local resident since 2009, the team also includes Finance Director Vaughan Bidewell, who brings financial oversight and community knowledge to every project. Together, they’ve helped shape Lee into a hub of cultural activity.

Sustainability and ESG are central to Montserrat’s approach.

Initiatives already underway include:

• Paperless ticketing
• Promoting walking, cycling, and public transport to events
• Partnering with local suppliers and businesses
• Reducing single-use plastics wherever possible

Montserrat Events is fully insured with £10 million public liability cover and is committed to creating inclusive, sustainable, and impactful events that enrich the local community.
