Pitt St Skatepark Portsmouth
An Undercover Skatepark Project Making a Real Difference
Looking for an indoor skatepark in Portsmouth that’s open all year round? Pitt St Skatepark is a state-of-the-art undercover wheeled sports facility located in the heart of Portsmouth, offering a safe, inclusive and weather-proof space for skaters of all ages and abilities.
Born from the passion of founders Jacob and Jenna Skinner, the Undercover Skatepark Project began in 2018 with a simple goal: bring people together through skateboarding and wheeled sports. With strong backing from Portsmouth City Council and the local skate community, that vision became reality.
Today, Pitt St Skatepark operates inside a transformed former Sainsbury’s supermarket in the Charles Dickens ward, creating a positive and lasting impact in one of the UK’s most disadvantaged areas.
A Year-Round Indoor Skatepark in Portsmouth
Pitt St Skatepark opened its doors on 10 December 2022 and has quickly become one of the leading indoor skateparks in Hampshire.
Open six days a week, the generous skatepark and multi-purpose rink cater for a variety of wheeled sports. Whether you skateboard, inline skate, scooter or ride BMX, this is a space designed to challenge, inspire and support you.
Because it’s fully undercover, you can skate whatever the weather. Rainy days no longer mean cancelled sessions.
More Than Just a Skatepark
Pitt St is a registered Community Interest Company (CIC), dedicated to serving the local community. The mission goes beyond ramps and rails.
Wheeled sports provide proven benefits for mental health and wellbeing. Skating helps reduce stress, improve fitness, build resilience and create strong social connections. Pitt St actively promotes these benefits by offering a welcoming and inclusive environment for everyone.
With more than 25,000 visitors in its first year, the skatepark has also evolved into a unique community hub and even a one-of-a-kind music venue in Portsmouth.
Pitt St Academy, Parties & Community Events
The launch of Pitt St Academy introduced structured coaching programmes for all ages. Sessions currently focus on skateboarding and inline skating, with plans to expand into scooters and BMX.
Birthday parties and celebrations are also a huge part of the events calendar, offering unforgettable experiences for young riders and their friends.
On site, Pitt St Kitchen provides a vibrant café and bar where visitors can relax, refuel and socialise between sessions.
