Pop Up Play Village Basingstoke: Imaginative Role Play Adventures for Children
Where Learning and Play Come Together
Pop Up Play Village Basingstoke offers a unique role play experience designed to inspire children's imagination, creativity and confidence through meaningful play.
Founded by former teacher Erica Mudd and her husband Frank, Pop Up Play Village has become a much-loved destination for families, schools, nurseries and community groups across Basingstoke and Reading. With a strong focus on child development and learning through play, every session is carefully designed to encourage exploration, communication and social interaction in a fun and engaging environment.
Following almost eight years of delivering mobile role play experiences, Pop Up Play Village is now opening a permanent role play centre at Basingstoke Leisure Park, complete with a real café serving coffee, cakes, sandwiches and light lunches.
Step Into a World of Imagination
At the heart of Pop Up Play Village is a vibrant role play village made up of realistic environments children instantly recognise.
Young visitors can become doctors in the hospital, care for animals at the vets, look after babies in the nursery or shop in the supermarket. Each area is filled with high-quality resources, dressing-up outfits and interactive props that encourage children to create their own adventures.
The open-plan design allows children to move freely between play areas, follow their interests and develop their imagination naturally through child-led play.
Every visit is different, with seasonal themes, special events and new experiences helping to keep the village fresh and exciting throughout the year.
More Than Just Play
What makes Pop Up Play Village different is its strong educational foundation.
Designed by an experienced early years teacher, the village supports children's communication skills, emotional development, confidence and understanding of the world around them. Through imaginative play, children learn to solve problems, work together, express emotions and develop important life skills.
Parents and carers are encouraged to join in too, creating valuable opportunities for connection, interaction and shared experiences.
Supporting Schools and Nurseries
Pop Up Play Village works closely with schools, nurseries and educational settings across the UK.
Bespoke role play experiences are linked to the EYFS, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 curriculum, helping children develop literacy, communication, maths and personal development skills through engaging hands-on learning.
The team also provides wellbeing-focused role play experiences designed to support emotional resilience, confidence and self-expression.
Unforgettable Children's Parties
Looking for a birthday party that children will remember long after the candles have been blown out?
Pop Up Play Village offers personalised role play parties that can be tailored to suit the birthday child's interests and favourite themes. With a huge range of role play areas available, every party is unique.
The team takes care of the entertainment, setup and clear-up, allowing parents to relax and enjoy the celebration. Parties can be held in halls, gardens, homes and other venues, creating a flexible and hassle-free experience for families.
Family Sessions, Events and Community Activities
Alongside the new permanent venue, Pop Up Play Village continues to offer mobile sessions, school visits, nursery events, corporate family days and community activities throughout Basingstoke, Reading and the surrounding areas.
Popular weekly events include family role play sessions where children can learn, explore and make new friends in a safe and welcoming environment.
