A Caring Community from Reception to GCSE
The journey begins in Reception at The Gregg Preparatory School. Children join from age four and build strong foundations in a nurturing setting. Pupils move smoothly from Prep into Senior School in Year 7.
By the time they complete Year 11, students leave with GCSE qualifications, confidence and a wealth of experiences. The school prepares young people for sixth form and adult life with ambition and resilience.
Entry Points and Admissions
There are three main entry points at The Gregg School:
Reception to Year 6
Children can join Reception in the September before they turn five. Families should contact the Registrar to arrange a tour. The application includes a £120 registration fee and completion of the online form.
For Reception, children attend “Start the Adventure” sessions or a classroom visit. The school also arranges a nursery visit. A £400 deposit secures the place and is refunded at the end of schooling.
For Years 1 to 6, children attend a trial day. There is no formal exam, but light assessments help staff understand ability and learning needs.
Year 7 Entry
Prospective Year 7 students complete an Entrance Assessment using the ISEB format. The assessment includes Maths, Reading, Verbal and Non-Verbal Reasoning, plus creative writing.
The school also hosts a Year 6 Activities Morning. Children can explore subjects including Science, Art, PE, Drama and Languages. Results are issued within two weeks.
In-Year Applications (Years 7–10)
The Gregg School welcomes in-year applications where spaces are available. The process includes an enquiry, school visit, Entrance Assessment and taster days. The Headteacher makes the final decision based on assessment results, references and overall fit.
