Learn the Fundamentals of Wheel Throwing

This introductory pottery workshop focuses on the essential techniques used by ceramic artists and potters.

You will discover how to prepare clay, centre it on the wheel and begin shaping it into beautiful forms. As the workshop progresses, you will learn how to control the clay, develop your technique and create pieces that reflect your own creativity.

The process is both relaxing and rewarding, offering a unique opportunity to switch off from everyday life and focus on creating something from scratch.

No prior experience is required, making this workshop ideal for anyone curious about pottery.

Create Handmade Pottery to Take Home

One of the highlights of the Wheel Throwing Taster Workshop is creating your own pottery collection.

During the session, you will have the opportunity to make up to two unique pottery pieces. Once completed, your creations will be professionally fired and glazed, ready for collection after the finishing process.

Every piece is unique, making your finished pottery a special reminder of your experience at Fatclay.

Add Your Own Creative Touch

For those who want to become even more involved in the pottery-making process, Fatclay offers the opportunity to decorate your creations.

Participants can choose to return and add their own decorative finishes once their pieces have been prepared for glazing. This gives you the chance to personalise your pottery and create something truly individual.

If you prefer, the Fatclay team can professionally glaze your work for you, ensuring a beautiful finish.

A Creative Experience for All Skill Levels

Unlike many beginner workshops, this pottery experience is suitable for both first-time visitors and those looking to refresh existing skills.

The relaxed environment allows everyone to work at their own pace while receiving expert support throughout the session. Whether you successfully create your first bowl or refine techniques you have tried before, the experience is enjoyable, engaging and highly rewarding.
