Martial Arts Classes for Children in Winchester
Winchester School of Martial Arts offers age-appropriate classes designed to make learning martial arts enjoyable and rewarding.
Children learn genuine martial arts and self-defence skills while working on coordination, listening, confidence and resilience. The emphasis is on encouragement and personal progress rather than comparing children against each other.
Classes are available for several age groups, starting with younger children aged three and upwards. Older children and teenagers can progress into more advanced Ju Jitsu and dedicated BJJ training.
This makes the school a great option for parents searching for after-school activities in Winchester or a regular weekend activity that combines exercise with useful life skills.
Ju Jitsu and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu
Traditional Ju Jitsu forms the foundation of Winchester School of Martial Arts. Students learn practical skills covering different aspects of martial arts and self-defence.
Dedicated Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) classes are also available for children and teenagers interested in developing their grappling and groundwork skills. Students who want to compete can explore competition opportunities, although competition is not the main focus of the school.
Learn with an Experienced Martial Arts Instructor
The school is led by founder Judith Emery, who has more than 30 years of martial arts experience and over 15 years of teaching experience.
Judith holds a 3rd Dan in Ju Jitsu, a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Black Belt and a 1st Dan in Taekwon-Do. She is also a former secondary school teacher with Qualified Teacher Status.
In 2025, Judith became Winchester's first female BJJ Black Belt, adding another significant achievement to her martial arts career.
