Every summer, the fields at Silkstead Sunflowers, just outside Winchester, burst into life with thousands of golden blooms. A true countryside gem, this family-friendly attraction has become one of Hampshire’s favourite seasonal days out, combining stunning scenery, hands-on fun, and plenty of photo opportunities.
One of the highlights of a visit to Silkstead is the chance to pick your own sunflowers. Each entry ticket includes 3 stems, and you can add extra stems for just £1 each. Bring along your own secateurs or borrow some on site (with a small charity donation). It’s a wonderful way to take a little bit of sunshine home with you.
For an adventure in the fields, take on the sunflower maze, which takes around 35–45 minutes to complete. Along the way you’ll discover fun props, activities, and a Look Out Tower giving you a bird’s-eye view of the flowers. For a gentler experience, the sunflower trail offers a meandering walkway through the blooms – perfect for exploring at your own pace and capturing those all-important photos.
Silkstead Sunflowers is ideal for families. Children will love exploring the maze, spotting wildlife, and discovering surprises hidden among the flowers. Dogs are welcome too (kept on a lead), so the whole family can join in.
Bring a blanket and enjoy a picnic surrounded by the flowers, or pick up refreshments on site. Options include:
Soft drinks, bottled water, tea & coffee
Homemade cakes from Oates & Flour
Crisps, snacks, and local dairy ice creams
It’s the perfect spot for a relaxed afternoon in the Hampshire countryside.
With sunflowers stretching as far as the eye can see, Silkstead is one of the most Instagrammable locations in Hampshire. Whether you’re updating your profile picture, capturing family moments, or booking a professional photo shoot, the backdrop couldn’t be better. Photographers can even book private hire after 3:30pm for exclusive access to the fields.
Tickets include 3 sunflower stems per entry.
Dogs welcome (on leads).
Limited shade – bring water if visiting with pets or young children.
